Doug and Katy are more than just opticians; they are a husband and wife duo with a shared passion for people and optics. With a seamless partnership built on trust and years of experience, they lead the Halcyon Vision team with dedication and expertise.
Mr Douglas Allison
Optometrist / Director
MSc BSc(Hons) MCOptom DIPTp(IP)
Douglas qualified as an optometrist in 2014, achieved an MSc in primary care ophthalmology in 2018 and became an independent prescribing optometrist in early 2022. Douglas has a special interest in home visits and particularly enjoys being out of the test room. He feels that seeing his patients at home has many benefits like seeing how they sit to read or work on their computer, checking the lighting in the house is suitable for the tasks they are looking to achieve, Douglas also loves meeting any pets you might have. He is always keen to advise on lighting and magnifiers and all things vision related. He is keen to deliver an excellent and comprehensive eye test in the comfort of your home.
Katy Weir
Specialist Optometrist / Director
BSc(Hons) MCOptom Dip Tp (IP)
Katy graduated from Glasgow Caledonian University in 2014 and became a fully qualified optometrist in 2015 following completion of the preregistration year. Most recently, Katy became an independent prescribing optometrist, gaining a diploma in ocular therapeutics in 2022. Katy has worked in a variety of optometric settings including high street practice, laser eye surgery clinic, and now domiciliary practice. Katy enjoys being involved in your eyecare journey every step of the way from booking your appointment right through to frame styling and fitting. She is happy to help with all of your eyecare needs and to have a good old natter while she’s doing that.
